About The Photographer
My name is Mark David Zahn and these are my photographs. I'm not a photographer by trade. I consider myself an ever-learning hobbyist who spends every photowalk sharpening my photography skills and honing my artistic eye. I'm a serial autodidact. I've always loved learning new things. I'm not formally trained in photography, and I've spent the better part of the last decade defining my standards as an artistic photographer.
I like striking contrasts, inky black-and-whites, commanding color palettes and interesting perspectives. I like focusing on objects you might not otherwise look at in everyday life. I like injecting a rich color palette into places where you might not see it in real life. I like drawing out interesting shapes from the shadows cast in one of my black and whites.
I started Shutter Happens Photography to share my view on the world with you, and to offer you the ability to own your own piece of my weird, colorful world. I hope you'll not only enjoy my work, but that you'll help support this up-and-coming artist grow and thrive as my artistic eye develops.
I currently live and work in Green Bay, Wisconsin with my wife, daughter and two cats. You may see a lot of my favorite Wisconsin spots in my work, as well as a lot of my second home in Northern Minnesota, where my wife's family lives. I also pepper in photos from my various travels.
Thanks for visiting!
